Today I attended work 15 minutes before I was supposed to, to be able to relax before the hard work started.
In the picture above you can see my place of work, wich is where I spend most of my time when i'm at work.
Today has been a nice quiet day at work, with lots of leftover time due to the very little work there is to do, just a normal day at Ringerike VGS.
I had three main assignments today.
1. Tank a PC.
2. Upgrade firmware on a D-link router.
3. Help out in a classroom where there was some trouble with a projector. I went to the classroom with a colleague, and checked out the projector. It didn't seem to be anything wrong, except that it didn't seem to be able to turn off normally, and it made a lot of noise.
We pulled the projector's power source, giving it no other choice than to turn off. When we started it back up, everything seemed to be good, so we didn't do anything further. We decided to wait until another complaint was sent, if it were, and if so, we would take another look.
I've also spent some time watching manuals and youtube-videos to self-teach about Vlan and swtiches today.
Tank a PC
My first assignment was to tank a PC, wich basically wipes everything on the computer and makes it seem brand new. The process makes the computer faster and 100% clean. I did this because the computer was going to get into the hands of a new owner.
Theres is not much to say about tanking a PC. It's a process the computer goes through that takes a good amount of time.
It's fairly easy, all you have to do is connect the computer to a internet cable, start the process, and wait. Along the way, there are a couple forms you have to fill, one of wich is shown on the picture below

Upgrading a router
My next assignment was to perform a reset and several upgrades of firmware on a D-link dir-615 router.

It has to be mentioned that I have absolutely no experience in the subject and how this was supposed to be done, but as always google is a good helping hand. I started out by finding the manual for the specific router, and went on from there.
Here I found that i had to go to 192.168.0.1, configurationplace for the router, and upload the firmware I was to install on the router.

Therefore, I had to find out what type of firmware I was supposed to use, because this is very specific for every router. This information I gathered on the back of the router. It demanded a H2 firmware upgrade.
I googled this to find the .zip file that was required.

After this was downoalded, I went back to the configurationplace, found the file on my computer, and started loading the file onto the router.
This took quite a while.
